The Author Wayne D. Overholser has written several western stories that I have enjoyed and submersed my self into. This story is about how a young man felt that his inheritance was stolen but he was too young and inexperienced to get it so he left. Time passes and the two sworn enemy’s are brought together and the young Hugh Moberly who is now the fastest gun around is tempted with the desire to have the ranch. Vic Hearn is an old man who is trying to get out of the ranch. A big part of the ranch is titled to Hugh. This creates a problem for Vic and he gets a crooked judge involved.

The buyer for the ranch is a man Hugh saved in a battle in the Philippines. He has a daughter and there is a definite love interest. The story represents the values of the west and if a life is saved it is ultimately owned by the one who saved it. The story line is involved and shows the skill of the writer.

I recommend this book to western readers and I know that the story will engage and interest them until they get to the last page of the story.

This western story revolves around one night at a stage stop where supper is served. The owner is Susan Girard and Glen Logan a business owner in Gold City visits her for their weekly date. Glen has repeatedly ask Susan to marry him but she has continually put him off because she did not want her no account father to have the opportunity to sponge off him just because she got married. The survival of the town is riding on the stage fifty thousand dollars. The main teller has shot himself and the confidence in the bank is very low. With out the money the bank and town could dry up and blow away.

What more would you need to create a plot for a story in the old west. Let us add two outlaw brothers that have escaped jail. It is assumed that they know about the fifty thousand dollars carried on the stage. The night is stormy with the intensity that is known to the mountains. As Glen crosses the bridge on the tail from Gold City he is almost swept away as the swollen stream tales the bridge into its swirling breast. The passengers that arrive on the stage highlight the addition of more conspirators, to the stories list of players. Let us increase the players with the no account father and the people that help run the stage stop.

There are many ups and downs where you think the story will end but you know better because there are to many pages left to read. Wayne D. Overholser is able to keep the characters moving in a logical and understanding manner. The story like most westerns and any well-written book conceals the ending and gives you the reader the ability to be surprised and satisfied on all accounts.

I recommend this book to western readers.

This is a western story written about that big ranching family that has had the power and respect it always wanted but a chink in the armor results in a disappearance of these things and the death of the patriarch and his son. Everything is thrown up in the air. The sheriff has to find out who committed the murders and why.

Adding to the confusion the sheriff is in love with the granddaughter and things went from bad to troubled to confusing to completely out of control. The story is short but it has many good twists and turns making the reader continue to turn the pages. I personally felt that the story could have been fleshed out more and got the reader into a more complicated and mind-rattling story.

I would recommend this story to the western readers out there who want a good short story that doesn’t take all week to read.

This is a short story written by Wayne D. Overholser about a small town marshal who had tamed his town but wouldn’t leave because he had fallen in love with the banker’s daughter. He wanted to marry her and prove that he wasn’t a Rainbow Rider. The pressure her aunt was placing on her and her father had drawn them both under the influence of her aunt. This willfulness of her aunt made her completely beyond reason . He had spent all of his money on a diamond ring but she wouldn’t take it. The story begins with the last opportunity to say she would marry him.

At this point things began to really happen. A friend that the sheriff had put in jail came visiting and a con artist was discovered in their community. All of the events lead up to a conclusion that was predictable but not out of line.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to any western reader. It is short and quick to read with several good twists.

This is a western short story in a trio of stories from the book Rainbow Rider by Wayne D. Overholster. This story is about a gunman who is working for a large land company working out of northern New Mexico and it moves to press claims for land into southern Colorado. The main character is Rick Marvin who is having some conflicts with his conscience about railroading honest hard working people off the land that they had before the Grant Company came along.

He meets a woman on the wrong side that is against the Grant Company and it is the final straw that drives him into a headlong fight against the Company. This pits him against the company and his old partner Pete Fargo who only goes where the money is and until now the winning side.

This is a good western story with not too many side turns and is a very easy read. I will recommend this story as a different pace for the western reader.
